Childcare Provider Job Description 

Reports to: Director of Children’s Ministries 

Status: Part-time (app. 5 hours/week, non-exempt)  

Hours: 9am-1pm Sundays and occasionally Sunday afternoons or other times, as needed 

Pay: Starts at $13/hour with potential for pay increase after one year

FUNCTION: 

To provide exceptional care for children (birth – age 5) while maintaining a safe and sanitary nursery environment and assisting in discipleship hour activities with children (birth – 6th grade).  

ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP:  

This position reports to the Director of Children’s Ministries and also works with other staff members and lay volunteers.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

A childcare provider will maintain a safe and quality environment where... 

  • Children from diverse backgrounds experience the love of God.  

  • The learning environment is safe, secure, and inviting.  

  • Parents/Guardians are communicated with about their child’s time in the nursery.  

  • Children of all ages are supervised and attended to with respect.  

In the administration of the above duties, the Childcare Provider can expect to... 

  • Promote a positive learning environment by leading age-appropriate activites and playtime experiences.  

  • Feed infants and prepare approved snacks for children of all ages.  

  • Clean and sanitize the nursery and other classrooms before and after church each Sunday. 

  • Follow a schedule for changing diapers as well as changing them at other times when needed.  

  • Wash and put away dishes used for serving snacks.  

  • Assist lay volunteers teaching Sunday school by providing snacks, helping with crafts, and maintaining a safe classroom environment.  

  • Help parents sign their children in and out of childcare each Sunday.  

  • Provide updates to parents at pick-up regarding their child’s time in the nursery.  

  • Oversee free-play time with diverse ages in a large group setting.  

  • Communicate any needs or incidents that occurred to the Director of Children’s Ministries.  

  • Other duties as assigned.
